KIMMY ON BEAUTY

beau·ty

ˈbyo͞odē/

noun

    1. a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. "I was struck by her beauty"

In the physical sense I admire all things beauty because it's feminine and fun. I'd like to argue though that it's way more than the person, place, or thing (the noun)....beauty is intrinsic, it's emotion and feeling.

Kim is someone who embodies it both inside and out and I admire her immensely. She is super gorgeous and super sweet and I wanted to learn more about her personal beauty philosophy.  She is a certified esthetician and during a recent chat in Miami I found myself in awe of her appreciation for self-care, beauty, etc.  Here's the extended version of the convo:

What is your beauty philosophy.. what does beauty mean to you?

My beauty philosophy is appreciating the gift of life by loving myself with having faith (complete trust in God); peace (harmony in personal relations and especially with God); courage (mental or moral strength); hope (confident trust with the expectation of fulfillment); and love ( the ultimate expression of God's mercy).

When I think of beauty, I do not always think of the physical but what's within a person such as grace, forgiveness and humility.

Within the beauty spectrum what would you say you invest the most in, time and or expense wise.. hair, makeup, skincare, etc..?

I invest the most in my hair (my hair is coiffed on a weekly basis); and eyelash extensions (every two weeks). I can maintain my skin for the most part but I will be investing in monthly facials ASAP.

What are your must ‘do’s’ as it relates to beauty, something that you are not willing to waver on?

Praying; reading my daily devotional; cleansing my face twice a day; exfoliating weekly; applying eye cream, sunscreen and an evening moisturizer; weekly hair appointments; monthly eyebrow appointments; getting some form of exercise at least three times a week; drinking water; and for the most part trying to improve my eating habits.

Do you experiment with new products, regimens or techniques?

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!! it's my favorite thing to do. I absolutely love going to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Sephora, Target and the department stores to purchase products. I studied at Atelier Esthetique Institute in New York, NY and received my certificate in Esthetics. So, I understand the ingredients in the products. Currently, my night moisturizer is Rosehip oil. Rosehip oil is packed with beauty essentials like anti-inflammatory fatty acids and vitamins A and C. My biggest skincare concern is hyperpigmentation. So, Rosehip oil aides in the treatment of hyperpigmentation, aging and hydrating the skin giving the skin a healthy glow.

If you could recommend a beauty item what would it be and why?

My absolute favorite beauty item is Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peels. We live in a world of instant gratification and this product will give you instant results. The Alpha Beta peel exfoliates, brightens the skin and allows your skin to respond better to other ingredients such as serums and moisturizers.

If you could make a suggestion or share a tip regarding beauty what would it be and why?

I have a few suggestions: invest in professionals services; educate yourself on your skin type and products pertaining to your skin type or treating certain skin conditions; moisturize and hydrate; modify your eating; stay active, and never skip your doctor/dentist visits. Most importantly, love yourself and the uniqueness of being you.

Do you have a favorite mantra or quote.. is so please share…

"Trust in the Lord with All your Heart and lean Not on your own understanding". ~Proverbs 3:5
